When the hurt of betrayal hits, what is left for us to do?

When a person you love, might it be a parent, friend, spouse, betrays you, how are we to react and what can we do to ease this pain.

Because it hurts.....betrayal causes confusion, and loneliness, and misunderstanding and just plain grief. Grieving the space this person had in your life, grieving the energy you gave that you could have been giving someone who actually cares or building relationships with people who would have had your back no matter what. Betrayal is a human selfish ways showing up in the most absurd ways. Betrayal is realizing that the bond you shared with this person wasn't pure, but one sided. The minute you become a threat to that person, the claws slowly show up and BANG, they attack and they leave you having to reconstruct, reorganize, reinvent yourself to be the person you no longer want to be, the person you are struggling to get rid of, the person who will never again accept another human to decide for them and to tell them what they can and can't do.

For now, I'm still grieving, I'm still in the realization that everything is changing and nothing will ever be the same and it's impossible for me to continue as it's been, pretend like the betrayal didn't happen and that our relationship remains the same. It's a slow process but with God's help, one day I will not just say it out loud, but will actually feel it deep in my bones: God's redirection is God's protection!
